Sheesh. I can't believe it has been over a week since I last blogged. Lots of knitting going on, but no writing about it. In fact, I probably won't write much today about knitting since I haven't taken any photos to illustrate my mad "skillz". But I will. I've been knitting baby sweaters, charity hats, and something lacy for me. More explanations in another post when I've got photos.
The kid had today off from school, so after he did his slave labor (there recently was a very unfortunate incident regarding his new cell phone and my phone bill, which although I have been told repeatedly by friends that I will laugh about one day, I am not laughing about it yet) to pay off his phone bill sins, (it's going to be a long time before I touch a dust rag or the vacuum) we decided to catch a matinee. (I should also add here that the kid thinks it is very uncool that I use the word "matinee" and that I should just say "movie". Whatever.) We decided to compromise and see the movie "Twilight". I picked up the book at Costco over the weekend and read it and the kid started reading it after I finished. I had hesitated about reading it because, at the risk of sounding like a five year old, I've always found vampires sort of scary. My folks had a copy of the book, Dracula, in the house when I was a child with a vivid cover and I used to pull it out of the bookshelf to peek at it quickly and scare myself. As I'm still a bit of a wimp, I usually flip past any vampire movies when I'm changing channels on television. So we went to see this movie today, the kid and me and a theater full of sighing teenage girls. It was a fun enough movie, perfectly entertaining for a few hours. The movie makeup was hysterically bad. The vampires all looked like they had done a face plant into a bowl of flour and I found myself wondering what shade of lipstick the young vampire Edward was wearing so that I could get some for myself. Still, it was a fun movie. Then I started all the Thanksgiving food prep. The pies are all made and I've poured myself a glass of wine, so I think I'll go knit something.
Oh dear, these kids are sent to try us aren't they? I hope he learns his lesson but somehow I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be the the start of a long attachment with household chores ;)
