Sockapaloooza Love
Look at what was waiting for me when I got home from work last night. It's a pair of wonderful bright pink and orange Koigu socks from my Sockapaloooza knitter. The colorway is fabulous. I love this bright happy shade. Today has been sort of dank and cold around here, so these cozy socks are the perfect antidote. Speaking of perfect, these are a perfect fit to my feet, too. Sheesh, I don't even knit socks for myself that fit my feet so well and the feet are attached to me. The stitches are so nice and even. I'm really impressed. So who knit them for me? Well, I'm not exactly sure. There was a name and a return address on the box and the socks were nestled amid chocolate, (okay, nothing says you really have no control around sweets than wolfing down a chocolate bar at 10:30 at night before you go to bed) but there wasn't a note or an email address or a blog. After a little bit of detective work, I think my Sockapaloooza knitter is Kathy, but I'm not 100% sure.
Kathy didn't include a postcard from her home area I'm guessing, because, get this, Kathy lives in Missouri, too. Poor Kathy. Out of 606 Sockapaloooza knitters living in 21 different countries, Kathy was probably really hoping to knit for someone in an exotic locale, and what does she get? Another Missourian. Kathy, I'm sorry I'm not "Exotique", but I really love the socks. Actually, my husband and I had never heard of her home town, which is pretty unusual because we know our small Missouri towns. My husband is definitely one of those "let's just take this country road and see where it goes" type of driver, so I would have thought we'd have stumbled across it before. In fact, we've had this running joke for years now, because once, when we were newly married and out driving around the state, we passed one small town and I casually mentioned that I had once dated a guy from that town and then, without really thinking about it, mentioned that I had dated or kissed or something, another guy from the next small town down the road. Oops. Anyway, for some reason, my husband sort of latched onto these random comments and now he likes to ask if I dated anyone from any new town we meander through. Obviously, he must think I was very busy in my undergrad years before I met him. LOL. I can confidently say, however, that I never kissed, dated, or whatever anyone from Kathy's home town. I got online and discovered that even though my Sockapaloooza knitter and I live in the same state, we live 349 miles apart and the drive time is estimated at 7 hours and 23 minutes. (How fun are internet maps?) So, Kathy, if you read this blog entry, please, please, email me so that I can thank you properly and effusively. I love the socks.
Today was my 500th Jazzercise class. That seems like quite an accomplishment. Five hundred hours of doing lunges and squats to music by the Pussycat Dolls and Britney. Five hundred classes and I'm still kicking left when everyone else kicks right. You would think that after 500 classes, I would be a total hard body, wouldn't you? Yeah, you would think that. But you'd be wrong. Anyway, the Quebec
socks are progressing nicely. The colors really are beautiful and serene. Hey, look, my nail polish matches my new Sockapaloooza socks. Very cool. Tonight I'm hitting the veggies hard from the exciting Vegetable Day earlier this week and making a spinach and green onion frittata for dinner. Ooh, don't you just love how the word "frittata" sounds? It's got Gruyere cheese in it. "Gruyere" is another word I love the sound of and like to repeat aloud for my own amusement. "Gruyere frittata". Let's all say it now.
i haven't even FINISHED my socks yet. however, as i sit here, when i'm not typing, i'm knitting on these socks. and i've only got 2 inches of foot to do, and i'm down to the toe, then to wash, block, dry & mail. yours are VERY nice.

Lovely socks! I seem to be in a sock knitting mode now. Did I ever ask you if you've heard of Thomasville (south central, near the Arkansas border)? That's where I'm from and believe me, it's SMALL!
