A three day holiday weekend with the family home from work/school and sunny weather doesn't lead to much blogging or knitting time, but I did do a few things. A local yarn store was having a 25% off of everything sale on Sunday, so I tried to get a friend to go along with me, but she said she'd already blown this month's discretionary yarn budget on shoes. Yeah, I didn't really need anything, but I picked up a neat pattern book with children's patterns and two skeins of Koigu in lovely spring colors.
On the actual knitting front, I cast on another Jaywalker sock in an attempt to get this pattern right. This time I used Lorna's Laces in the Lakeview colorway. These are eye-poppingly bright socks in dark purple, shades of blue, and acid green. They definitely remind me of psychedelic tie-dying. I used size 1 US needles, because that size has worked the best for me with Lorna's Laces sock yarn in the past, but I only cast on 68 stitches, which is eight stitches less than the smallest pattern size calls for to combat my loose knitting style. The fit is perfect. Hooray. I can finally say I have floppy wing toe no more. I guess there is something to be said for the "if at first you don't succeed" phrase.
did ya report these to aimee? i LOVE that colorway! very nice!

i just started the jaywalker socks myself. these are fun! and, considering this is my first "real" pair of socks, amazingly easy. the only other socks i've done before were worsted weight handspun (my own) and bulky weight anklets out of my own handspun. whee! i will be posting pics soon
